The Red Pen Streetboard Magazine Story

The Home of Streetboarding Since 2008

First launched in 2008 Red Pen Streetboard Magazine has always had one clear aim:

Tell the stories of the sport of the sport we love.

The tricks. The riders. The contests. The trips & tours.

Who's Telling The Story?

Red Pen Streetboard Magazine was founded by Jay "The Captain" Nowman, Stef Tribe & Sam Cooke.

Jay is the one on the ones & twos day to day, having himself been streetboarding since 1994.

Meet the Red Pen Team

Red Pen is the fourth Title from the crew stretching right back to 1998.

Jay & Stef launched their first Streetboard Magazine at just 16 years old:

  • Suburban Droog | 1999

Looking back at this, we were some pretty determined teenagers. Produced on a first gen imac, with a 100mb state of the art zip disc. We managed two colour covered issues and sold them in teh UK, USA & Germany.

  • Anal Toupee | 1998

Forgive the title. We were sniggering teenage boys at the time. Anal Toupee was a step up if not in taste, but in ambitions.

Modelled on the hardcore punk fanzine scene, its barely legible, but it proves Jay has had a mean melon grab in two milleniums.

    Feat:

    - The Spluge Review

    - Pumpin' Jim

    - D Cooper Interview

(D is now a missing person, so if anyone has news do get in touch)

& some more we can't read.

  • The Dairy Farm

A tri-fold zine that got us hooked on the print format!

We used to roll as TEAM CHEeSE before The True Skool. Unfortunately the only remaining copy is currently lost in a black and white Mickey Mouse folder. Serious. If you see it. Holla!

"Some say the name Red Pen is because its a love letter to streetboarding.

Others that its The Teacher's Mark of Dissapproval.

But we like to think its because its from the Blood of the Scribe."
